Bliss World - Pride Campaign
It was very exciting to film two campaigns for the skincare brand Bliss World in collaboration with Adolescent Content.
The first campaign was for Bliss' Trevor Project x Makeup Melt Wipes initiative. Proceeds from every box of wipes were donated to the Trevor Project to aid their support services to LGBTQI+ youth. My spot, about my journey as a non-binary person, won an award within Adolescent Content as the 'Most Creative.' Very validating!
Results
It was super cool to shoot and edit this skincare campaign using my own blocking on the fly. The spot is catchy and gives a great message while utilizing the Bliss brand as well. Doing a campaign for an important cause is always so rewarding.
Bliss Spa - an online relaxation retreat
The second campaign was for the Bliss Spa, a week-long online relaxation retreat for Bliss customers. I filmed the entire campaign in a swimming pool, and I think it flows beautifully with soothing music, teal and aquamarine colors, and of course slow-motion splashes and waves.
Shooting for this campaign was like a relaxing day at the pool, one of the most satisfying elements for me is the flow of the licensed soundtrack as the video loops. Each splash and each wave, every pan and turn are perfectly in sync, giving nothing but smooth, chill vibes.
Takeaways
Publishing these advertising pieces for skincare brand Bliss World was one of my career highlights for 2020. From being the face of an award-winning LGBTQI+ Pride advertising campaign to shooting one of the first Instagram Reels, these campaigns marked a definitive turning point in my career.
I look forward to producing more engaging and impactful commercial campaigns like these. Punchy short form video continues to be a passion of mine to this day.
